William Hunter to James F. Perry, November 19, 1831
Summary: Hunter told Perry that business was proceeding as usual. He enclosed a letter from Perry's family and told him of the arrival of General Teran and Jorge Fisher. Also listed the duty payments they needed to make and that he did not purchase the cotton he had written about earlier because it cost too much.
Dear Sir
Enclosed you have a letter from your family wrote on Yesterday all are as well as Common today. We have nothing new in our place since you left more than the arrival of Genl Teran & Jorge Fisher who I suppose you have heard of being near them report says here that duties are not to be collected untill the 6th Aprill & then 1/4 the 1st Year the 2. one half. & so on but this I fear will turn out like the reports of their arrival not correct the Col has recd. a letter from Teran & will start down to see him next week if he continuous[sic] to mend--Business goes on about as usual. I did not get the crop of Cotton I named to you about, as the men sold it for Eight 2 1/2 cents which was considerably more than I would have been willing to give.
