Summary: An ad proclaiming a sale of property by the probate court of Jefferson county. The land once belonged to the late Joseph Grigsby and consisted of nearly 3,000 acres and 13 slaves. There would also be other tracts of land for sale in other towns and counties on that day.

County of Jeffersen, PROBATE COURT August term 1842.
BY virtue of an order from the Hon. probate court for the county of Jefferson, we will expose to sale at Public auction on the first Tuesday in November 1842 at the late residence of Joseph Grigsby dec. all the real and personal estate except fifty acres of land, and such household and kitchen furniture as is exempt by law from execution--to say 13 negroes, the home place containing 2744 acres of land (except a reserve of fifty acres) the headlight league (known as the Laugham and Bingham place:) various other articles of farming utensils, &c.. The balance of the real estate, situated in the afforsaid county to be sold at the court house door on the day following the above named sale--consisting of one and one quarter leagues of land in three tracts, also, one hundred and eighty four lots in the town of Beaumont--also that portion of the real estate situated in Jasper county on the first Tuesday in December 1842.
Sale to take place within the hours prescribed by law on a credit of twelve months, the purchaser giving bond with approved security. SALLY GRIGSBY adm'r.
