"Notice," Telegraph and Texas Register, April 21, 1838
Summary: An ad from Henry James stating that he found a runaway slave boy. Gave the slave's name, age, height, complexion, etc. He thought the boy was African but the latter did not have a mark on his face nor could he speak to other Africans. Asked the owner to claim him and pay charges.
CAME to the plantation of the subscriber about the 16th of March last, a Negro Boy, (supposed to be an African, as his language cannot be understood,) about 5 feet ten inches high, sparemake, skin very black, about twenty-five years of age, calls his name SACKTY, does not know his master's name, and is not able to tell where he came from, he is not marked in the face as Africans usually are, and cannot talk with other Africans. The owner is requested to come forward, pay charges and take him away. HENRY JAMES.
