"$30 Reward," Telegraph and Texas Register, March 10, 1838

Summary: An ad offering a reward for a runaway. Gave the slave's name, height, complexion, and likely destination (Louisiana). Offered thirty dollars if captured outside the owner's county and twenty dollars if captured inside the county.

RANAWAY from the subscriber in the city of Houston, a NEGRO MAN named PLANNER, about five feet eight inches high, dark complexion, sharp featured. Said negro will most probably make for the plantation of Dr. Walter Brashear, in the Dutch settlement, St. Mary's Parish, Louisiana. I will give the above reward for him if taken out of the county of Harrisburg, or twenty dollars if taken within said county, if said negro is taken in the state of Louisiana, and delivered to D. Walten or Mr R. B. Brashear as above, it will answer the purpose.
