Abner Lipscomb to William Barron, November 18, 1840
Summary: Lipscomb sent to Barren a copy of the contract made between Taylor and his buyer for the black servants he was sending from Barbados to Texas. Included is an affidavit by a notary public swearing that the contract was accurate and the only one in existence.

Agreeable to the request of John Taylor Esqr, of Barbadoes, I herewith transmit the evidence of Joseph Grigsby, and Augustus B Hardin, with a copy of the Original contract between William Moore and said John Taylor relating to certain persons of color; with the certificates of the properly authorized persons to take evidence

Before me Geo W Miles chief Justice and Ex officio a Notary public in and for the County aforesaid, personally came and appeared William Moore of said County to me known, and he being by me duly sworn deposed and said that the within Contract is a true and Correct Copy of the only Contract ever entered into between this deponent and John Taylor in regard to William Gunsil Edmd. Whittaker and Edward Hicks men of Color further the deponent saith not.
