John Brown to James F. Perry, May 12, 1834
Summary: John Brown acknowledged the sale of his 15 year old slave girl to James Perry for $450 in the presence of a witness.
For and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged I have this day bargained sold and delivered unto James F. Perry a negro girl named Mary about fifteen years of age a Slave for life the title to which Slave I warrant and defend against all claims whatever, also that she is sound in mind and body.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal at San Felipe de Austin this 12th day May 1834
